The Friday Five: Lipsticks I Love
Part of the reason I love warmer weather is that it gives me the chance to bust out different colors within my beauty routine. Since I rarely, if ever, leave the house without some form of lip-wear (sorry, boyfriend!), I decided to focus this week's roundup on my favorite form of makeup! Here are five lipsticks I'm currently obsessed with:
REVLON ULTRA HD MATTE LIP COLOR (Addiction), $9.49 at ULTA Beauty
This berry lipstick is the perfect shade for transitioning between seasons, and is an easy drugstore staple to add to your rotation. There are AT LEAST one million great berry lipsticks in the world right now, but the reason I'm drawn to this particular tube is because you can add several layers to up the intensity. Sport a light layer on casual days to boost your lips' natural shade, then add two or three more for a darker, dramatic look.
NYX COSMETICS LIQUID SUEDE CREAM LIPSTICK (Pink Lust), $7 at NYX Cosmetics
Put this lipstick on once and you will literally wear it for three days! It's basically a liquid matte stain in the most fun color ever. Once dry, it will not come off when you eat, it will not come off when you drink, it may not even come off when you cleanse your face... but it actually will kinda-sorta come off if you aren't properly exfoliated beforehand, so definitely scrub scrub scrub your lips once a week if you're planning on rocking this.
TRESTIQUE MATTE COLOR LIP CRAYON (Chile Red), $28 on treStiQue
This is truly the most universally-flattering red lipstick I have ever found — and I moonlight as a dRaMaTiC opera singer, so I've worn quite a few. It's simple to apply and instantly dry, so you're good to swipe and run. It also doesn't flake and lasts for several hours without smearing down your face. Plus, there aren't many orange or blue undertones, so basically anyone can pull it off.
REVLON ULTRA HD MATTE LIP COLOR (Seduction), $9.49 at ULTA Beauty
I'm putting two Revlon's on here and I don't want to hear about it, okay? They're just that good! If you found the perfect berry shade AND the perfect nude lipstick that not only mildly hydrates your lips, but is also ideal for the every-day-I-woke-up-like-this-flawless-Beyonce beauty lie without breaking your bank, you'd put them on your list, too.
Also, ULTA did not pay me to say this (probably didn't have to quality that...) but Revlon lipsticks are currently Buy One Get One 50 percent off, so I also feel as though this is a public service announcement. You should probably just buy Addiction and Seduction. You're welcome.
THE BALM MEET MATT(E) HUGHES LONG-LASTING LIQUID LIPSTICK (Sincere), $17 on The Balm
This guy is small but mighty — honestly, when you see how small the tube is, you might come after me, but a little truly goes a long way and one purchase will last much longer than you would expect. Meet Matt(e) Hughes isn't very hydrating on its own, but it will lock in already-existing moisture pretty well, and the pink-y undertones enhance your lips more than a regular nude lipstick (try it with a black cat eye and prepare to be amazed!). Plus, if you're like me and hate lip liners but love the look of full lips, the applicator — which lets you color a bit "outside the lines" — will be your new best friend.
